House of Representatives Adopts Money Laundering Bill

Rabat – The House of Representatives, which convened on Tuesday in plenary session, unanimously adopted Bill No 12.18 amending and completing the Penal Code and Law No 43.05 relating to the fight against money laundering.

The new text is part of Morocco’s efforts to strengthen the national judicial system in the fight against this practice and the financing of terrorism.

The future law also seeks to adapt national legislation to the international standards adopted in this area by the Financial Action Task Force, in addition to remedying the shortcomings contained in the current texts, in particular those noted in the mutual evaluation report.

The justice, legislation and human rights committee at the same House had passed, unanimously, this project in a session which was held Monday overnight.
